FEATHER HAT

The feather hat, often called a Bamileke juju hat or Tyn Hat, is a traditional headdress from the Bamileke people of Cameroon. It is crafted using vibrant bird feathers meticulously stitched onto a raffia base. When unfolded, the hat forms a circular shape, resembling a flower or sunburst.

Originally worn by royalty, chiefs, and high-ranking members of society during ceremonies, the feather hat symbolizes status, power, and wealth. It is also believed to hold spiritual significance, invoking blessings and protection. Today, these hats are widely appreciated as decorative art pieces, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern design aesthetics.
