KWELE MASK

Kwele masks are ceremonial masks from the Kwele people of Gabon, Cameroon, and the Republic of Congo. These masks are distinct for their heart-shaped faces, minimalist designs, and almond-shaped eyes. Often painted with white and reddish-brown hues, they exude a calm and serene expression, symbolizing purity and spiritual balance.

Kwele masks are used in Bweti rituals, which are performed to combat malevolent forces and ensure harmony in the community.
